How Ridi Vihare Got Its Name

When King Dutugemunu was constructing the Ruwanweli Stupa in Anuradhapura he had to look for gold, silver, pearls and gems. One day a merchant found a silver cave. When the king was informed about this, he used the silver to build the Ruwanweli Seya. A temple was built near that cave. This is the Silver Temple.
